The Virginia Film Festival screens juried and curated films with filmmaker Q and A sessions across downtown Charlottesville and the University of Virginia campus each October. Founded in 1988 as the Virginia Festival of American Film, it is a program of UVA's Office of the Provost and Vice Provost for the Arts. The 2026 edition is the 39th annual, centered on the Paramount Theater, Violet Crown, and Culbreth Theatre.
