One of the oldest continuously held trade days in the country, Tater Day began in the 1840s as a livestock and sweet potato slip trading day around the Marshall County courthouse in Benton. It has grown into a multi-day festival with a carnival, pageants and vendors, culminating on the first Monday in April. The 2026 edition marked its 183rd year.

A seasonal walk-through light display of more than a million lights at Patti's 1880's Settlement in Grand Rivers, near the entrance to Land Between the Lakes.
The tailwater below Barkley Dam, where the Cumberland River comes out of the lock and the powerhouse.
Rail and river met here, and the Illinois Central's locomotive shops became the town's largest employer for a century, rebuilding steam engines until 1959.
