A free, all-volunteer folk music festival held on the grounds of Takoma Park Middle School since 1978, with multiple stages of acoustic, bluegrass and world music plus craft vendors and a dance tent. It is one of the longest-running community folk festivals in the DC area.

Charles Goodman drew one modernist house plan and five of them were built on Takoma Avenue in 1951, identical in layout and construction.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church moved its world headquarters to Takoma Park in 1904 and built a college, a hospital and several churches around it, which is why the town still has an Adventist quarter.
One of the longest running Independence Day parades in the country, held nearly every year since 1889 and known for homemade, satirical floats.
Benjamin Franklin Gilbert platted Takoma Park in 1883 along the B and O line and sold it on fresh air and high ground, making it the capital's first railroad suburb.
