Western swing musician Red Steagall started this gathering at the Fort Worth Stockyards in 1991 to celebrate cowboy culture. The three day event fills the historic Stockyards with ranch rodeo, a chuckwagon cook off, cowboy poetry and Western swing dancing. It now draws contestants, vendors and roughly 85,000 visitors from across the country each October.
