Pasadena's Strawberry Festival celebrates the city's early-1900s run as a self-declared Strawberry Capital of the South, built around the World's Largest Strawberry Shortcake. It draws more than 50,000 visitors each year to the Pasadena Fairgrounds. Held annually in May; 2027 dates approximate.

Pasadena's Strawberry Festival celebrates the city's early-1900s run as a self-declared Strawberry Capital of the South, built around the World's Largest Strawberry Shortcake.
Pasadena runs its own nine day rodeo and livestock show every September at the Pasadena Fairgrounds, with a barbecue cook off, carnival midway and nightly headline concerts, separate from the much larger Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo across town.
The fourth oldest chiropractic school in the country was founded in San Antonio in 1908 and chartered by the state in 1913, at a time when Texas courts and medical boards were still trying to shut chiropractors down.
Weeks after the Supreme Court released Texas from Voting Rights Act preclearance in 2013, Pasadena replaced two of its eight single member council districts with at large seats, erasing a Latino district in a city that had already become majority Hispanic.
The legislature drew this seat after the 1990 census to give the ship channel towns a Hispanic majority district.
