The North Nashville Culture Crawl is a multi-day showcase of Black art, music and history across roughly twenty venues in North Nashville, presented by the North Nashville Arts Coalition. A free shuttle connects sites including Hadley Park, the Elks Lodge and Plaza Arts over the three-day run.

Tennessee State University's homecoming parade runs down historic Jefferson Street in North Nashville each fall, drawing marching bands, dance teams, sororities and fraternities and hundreds of spectators.
The Black business district ran a circuit of clubs, the Del Morocco, Club Baron, the New Era, where Jimi Hendrix spent two years backing the Isley Brothers and playing in the King Kasuals before anyone had heard of him.

Founded by a salt merchant who had been helped by a Black family after a wagon accident and never forgot it, Meharry became the largest private historically Black institution training doctors and dentists in America.
