Looby's house bombed and the march to City Hall
1960
Meharry Boulevard, Nashville
Dynamite destroyed the house of the lawyer defending the arrested sit-in students. He and his wife survived. By midday around 2,500 people had walked in silence to City Hall, where Diane Nash asked the mayor directly whether he thought it was wrong to discriminate by race, and he answered that he did. The lunch counters served Black customers three weeks later.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
