San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter throws a Bourbon Street style Mardi Gras block party on Fat Tuesday, with beads, brass bands, and bars along Fifth Avenue open late into the night. The self-guided crawl now regularly folds in a Lunar New Year celebration since the two holidays often land close together on the calendar. It has grown into one of the Gaslamp's biggest recurring nightlife events outside of New Year's Eve.
