Eight minutes into a rally, turning toward a chart, when a round clipped his ear. The whole story of that afternoon is the distance between the two points this pin expands to: about 130 yards, a low sloped roof outside the security perimeter that local officers had already flagged, and under a minute between an officer seeing a rifle and eight rounds being fired. Corey Comperatore was killed shielding his family and two others were badly hurt. A counter-sniper killed Thomas Matthew Crooks. The roof position has never been published as a coordinate and is placed from the reported distance and the published diagrams.
