West Aliquippa sits on its own patch of riverbank north of the rest of the city, and in the 1920s it was almost entirely Italian immigrants working the steelworks. One of them was Quinto Mancini, whose son Henry was raised here before writing Moon River and the Pink Panther theme. The flute his father made him practise was the start of it.
