WEDO sells its airtime by the segment to whoever buys it
1946
McKeesport, Pennsylvania
Ed Hirshberg, a McKeesport businessman, put this station on 810 kHz in 1946. It has run for decades on brokered time, meaning a host buys an hour and fills it, so the schedule moves from programmes aimed at the valley's ethnic communities to religious broadcasters raising money for their ministries and on to hobby shows. The offices later moved up to the Lincoln Highway in North Versailles. The station still calls itself a station of nations.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
