Washington Hose No. 1, Conshohocken's oldest fire company
1877
Conshohocken, Pennsylvania
Conshohocken organised its first fire company in 1874, when the borough was filling up with iron mills, rolling mills and rows of workers' housing. The Italianate firehouse went up in 1877, took a stable wing in 1883, and gained a third equipment bay in 1908 when a second storey went over the stable. It was listed on the National Register in 1975 and the company still answers calls from it.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
