1942
Millard County, Utah
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Eleven thousand Japanese Americans held on alkali flats where summer reached 106 degrees and winter fell below zero. A guard shot dead a 63-year-old man walking near the fence in 1943 and was acquitted.
