Timms Landing, where cargo came ashore before there was a port
1852
San Pedro, California
Augustus Timms ran a landing here from the 1850s, when San Pedro Bay was open water with no breakwater and no wharf worth the name. Ships anchored offshore and lighters ran the cargo in. Nothing built by Timms survives. The spot is a small park beside the fishermen's co-op.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
