The Whistler House, where James McNeill Whistler was born
1834
243 Worthen Street, Lowell, Massachusetts
James McNeill Whistler was born in this Worthen Street house in 1834, while his father worked as an engineer on the Lowell canals. He left as a boy, spent his career in London and Paris, and had little to say about the mill city afterward. The house is now an art museum run by the Lowell Art Association.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
