The United Nations runs the world from a gyroscope plant

From August 1946 until 1951 the working headquarters of the United Nations was the Sperry Gyroscope factory on Marcus Avenue, half empty because wartime production had stopped. Delegations met in converted shop floors for more than eight thousand sessions. Much of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was drafted in the building before its adoption in Paris in 1948, and the Security Council voted here on Berlin and on Korea. Sperry took its offices back when the UN moved to Manhattan.
