The Polo Grounds and the Shot Heard 'Round the World

The bathtub shaped park in Coogan's Hollow had foul lines under 280 feet and a centre field wall past 480, which made it the strangest field in baseball. Bobby Thomson's pennant winning home run in 1951 and Willie Mays' over the shoulder catch in the 1954 World Series both happened here. The Mets played their first two seasons in it before it came down in 1964 for the Polo Grounds Towers.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
