The Oregon Trail ruts at Guernsey
1850
Guernsey, Wyoming

Every wagon bound for Oregon, California or Salt Lake squeezed through the same sandstone ridge above the Platte here, and a quarter million of them wore the rock into troughs five feet deep. A mile away at Register Cliff the emigrants carved their names by the thousand, a guest book in stone. No museum in the country says wagon train like standing in the groove they cut.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
