The Oklahoma Land Rush
April 22, 1889
Guthrie, Oklahoma
At noon on 22 April 1889 some 50,000 people raced for two million acres. Towns of 10,000 existed by nightfall. Those who slipped in early to stake claims were called Sooners, which Oklahoma later adopted as a nickname.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
