The Majestic, oldest theatre in town
1906
115 King Street, Madison, Wisconsin
Opened for vaudeville in 1906 and still standing, which makes it the oldest theatre in Madison. It became a movie house by 1912, converted to sound around 1930, then spent decades going through whatever the entertainment business demanded next, including a stretch nobody likes to talk about. Two owners took it over in 2007 and turned it into a six-hundred-capacity music club, which is the current answer to the question of what a 1906 theatre is for.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
