Drillers found oil in the Baldwin Hills in 1924 and the field has produced without a break ever since, close to 400 million barrels out of about a thousand acres. It is one of the largest urban oil fields in the country, pumped in the middle of a dense city with houses along the fence line. Roughly 30 million recoverable barrels are thought to be left.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
