The Illinois Monument at the Dead Angle
1914
Cobb County, Georgia

The fighting on Cheatham Hill on 27 June 1864 was close enough that soldiers on both sides called the salient the Dead Angle, and Union troops began digging a tunnel to mine the Confederate line before the armies moved on. Illinois veterans raised this monument on the spot fifty years later and dedicated it in 1914. It is the largest memorial in the battlefield park.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
