The Homestead at Hot Springs

People have been sitting in these hundred-degree springs since before the resort was built around them in 1766, Jefferson among them, taking the water for his rheumatism and complaining about it in writing. Twenty two presidents have stayed. In 1941 the State Department filled the hotel with interned Axis diplomats and their families for six months, guarded, waiting to be exchanged.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
