The Hiller museum, a helicopter builder's collection kept in a warehouse for thirty years

Stanley Hiller built helicopters in the Bay Area from the 1940s and started stockpiling airframes in a Redwood City warehouse in the late 1960s, aiming to keep one of every design his company made. He gave the collection and the money for a building, and the museum opened beside San Carlos Airport in 1998. It holds more than forty aircraft, including the nose section of a Boeing 747 that visitors can walk into.
