An eight storey Art Deco tower opened on the Santa Monica oceanfront in 1933, in the last months of national Prohibition. A speakeasy ran at basement level below the lobby, and the room has since been restored. The hotel changed hands in 2020 and reopened after a renovation.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
