The Fox Theatre, Siamese Byzantine on Grand
1929
527 North Grand Boulevard, St. Louis

A four and a half thousand seat movie palace done in a style its architect called Siamese Byzantine, meaning gold everything, elephants on the proscenium and a lobby the size of a church. It closed in 1978 and sat dark until a local family bought it for a few hundred thousand dollars and spent millions putting it back. Its twin in Detroit was built from the same drawings.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
