The Florida Reef

Florida Keys
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
The only living coral barrier reef in the continental United States, running about 350 miles down the outer edge of the Keys. It has lost the great majority of its living coral cover since the 1970s to disease, warming and runoff, and the response, nurseries growing coral on underwater frames and replanting it by hand, is now the largest reef restoration effort anywhere.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
