The Flint River starts here and disappears under the world's busiest airport
1975
East Point, Georgia

Georgia's Flint River begins as groundwater seepage in East Point and then vanishes, running close to two miles through pipes and culverts beneath the terminals and runways at Hartsfield-Jackson. Most of that burial was done by 1975 as the modern airport was built out. The river comes back to daylight south of the field and runs 344 miles to the Florida line, including a stretch of more than 200 miles with no dam on it.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
