In 1969 the Badgers had lost twenty-four games in a row and a new band director decided the crowd needed a reason to stay. So the band started playing after the final whistle instead of at half time, and the students stayed to sing along to polkas and a beer jingle and the Chicken Dance. It is called the Fifth Quarter, it was formally named in 1978, and for fifty years the same man conducted it. People still stay in the stands after losses.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
