The Fabyan windmill, a working Dutch smock mill on the Fox River

A Dutch pattern smock mill built in the 1850s, five storeys of wood standing 68 feet to the cap, on ground that was once Colonel George Fabyan's Riverbank estate and is now Kane County forest preserve. It was a custom grinding mill, taking in whatever a farmer brought, and it still turns. The National Register listed it in 1979 as the Dutch Mill, and the year after that it was picked for a United States postage stamp in a booklet of five American windmills.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
