The Everglades Alligator Farm keeps its alligators
1982
Homestead, Florida
CC0 · Wikimedia Commons
John Hudson started this as an airboat ride attraction in 1982, at the road into Everglades National Park. When Florida approved commercial alligator farming in 1985 he opened the first one in Dade County. It now holds more than 2,000 alligators and is the only farm in the region that does not kill or sell them for meat, selling eggs to other Florida farms instead. Handlers are trained on site and the farm will not hire people trained elsewhere.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
