This storybook park on the Baltimore National Pike opened on 15 August 1955, a month behind Disneyland, and drew 100,000 visitors in its first thirty days. There were no mechanical rides at the start, just Cinderella's castle, the cave of Ali Baba and a field of nursery rhyme figures for under two dollars a head. It closed in 1989 and most of the surviving sculptures were moved to a farm a few miles away.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
