The Elgin church built to look like a pocket watch

George Hunter designed this Richardsonian Romanesque church in 1892 so that its round front and heavy stone casing would read as a pocket watch, in the town the Elgin National Watch Company had made the centre of American watchmaking. It went onto the National Register in 1980 on its own, and was later folded into the Elgin historic district as a contributing building.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
