Lebanese Sunni families from the Bekaa Valley, most of them working at the Rouge, built this mosque at Vernor and Dix in 1937. It was only the second mosque ever constructed in the United States. In the early 1980s the congregation won a court order allowing it to broadcast the call to prayer over loudspeakers, over the objections of neighbours, the first mosque in the country to do so.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
