The custom house that still has the bullet holes
1872

A federal custom house, post office and courthouse finished in 1872, when Cairo still expected to be a great river city. It is a museum now, and the holes in its stonework are from 1969, a year in which sniper fire was reported in Cairo on a hundred and seventy separate nights. The building kept them. Almost nothing else in town from that period is still standing to keep anything.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
