Italy, Texas

On 6 July 2016 Bell's first fly by wire helicopter was being flown through engine failure recovery tests near Italy when it came apart at about 2,000 feet and roughly 229 miles an hour. A vibration in the main rotor fed back through the pilot's own arm on the collective and kept building until a rotor blade cut the tail boom off. Both test pilots were killed. The programme was grounded and the certification schedule slipped by years.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
