John Bancker Aycrigg was a physician who served two separate terms in Congress, and in 1848 he put up this Italian palazzo on Main Avenue. The Passaic Collegiate School took it over in 1899 as its first permanent home, Masonic lodges held it from 1908 to 1994, and it is a boys' religious high school now. The Historic American Buildings Survey measured and photographed the place, and it joined the National Register in 1982.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
