The Algiers Motel killings
1967
Virginia Park, Detroit
On the night of 25 July 1967, with the uprising a mile west still burning, a task force of Detroit police, state police and National Guardsmen searched the Algiers Motel after reports of a sniper. No sniper was ever found. Three Black teenagers were killed and nine other people were beaten, among them two white women. Every officer charged was acquitted.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
