The Alex Theatre and its 100 foot neon tower
1925
Glendale, California
Built in 1925 on Brand Boulevard, the Alex spent decades as Glendale's movie palace and as a preview house where studios tried films on an audience before release. S. Charles Lee added the 100 foot neon tower out front in 1940. A restoration in 1993 brought it back as a 1,400 seat performing arts venue, and it joined the National Register in 1996.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
