Gouverneur Morris II built the church in memory of his mother and it is the oldest church building in the borough. The graveyard holds the colonial Morris family, including Lewis Morris, who signed the Declaration of Independence, and Gouverneur Morris, who wrote the final draft of the Constitution and gave it the opening words We the People.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
