Edward Searles paid for this English Renaissance Revival school in 1904 and had it drawn by Henry Vaughan, the same architect he used for the music hall down the road. It serves as Methuen city hall now. In the atrium stands a small early version of Thomas Ball's Emancipation Memorial, bought by Searles from the sculptor.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
