Schuetzen Park, the German shooting grounds on the ridge

The United Schuetzen Association opened rifle grounds, a dancing pavilion and a bandstand on the Palisades ridge in 1872, and the first Volksfest was held nearby in August 1874. The Plattduetsche Volksfest Vereen bought the place in 1894 and grew it to three dance pavilions and ten bowling alleys, drawing crowds of fifty thousand. Target shooting stopped in 1935, but the hall survived every other German beer garden in the county and is still rented out.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
