Rodman's Neck, where the NYPD shoots and detonates
1959
Rodman's Neck, Pelham Bay Park, Bronx, New York
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
The southern third of this peninsula has been the New York Police Department's outdoor firing range since the end of the 1950s, where officers requalify by the thousand each year and the bomb squad destroys recovered explosives. The noise carries a long way across Pelham Bay Park, and neighbours have been complaining about it for decades. The rest of the neck is parkland, salt meadow and ballfields.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
