Quindaro, a free-state port on the Underground Railroad
1857
Kansas City, Kansas

A free-state port founded by abolitionists and Wyandot people on the Kansas bank, and a crossing point on the Underground Railroad out of slaveholding Missouri. It emptied after the war and its stone foundations were nearly buried under a landfill before protests stopped it in the 1980s.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
