Palmer and the Houston Black clay that bricked north Texas
1902
Palmer, Texas

The clay under northeast Ellis County fired into good hard brick, and once the Houston and Texas Central reached Palmer in 1874 there was a way to ship it. The Palmer Pressed Brick Works opened in 1902 and the Standard Brick Company followed in 1910. Palmer and neighbouring Ferris turned out brick by the millions for the buildings and paving of a growing Dallas.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
