The theatre on Richmond Street opened in 1921 as the El Segundo State Theater. In 1967 two musicians, Bill Field and Bill Coffman, rented it and hauled in the Mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ from the Fox West Coast Theatre in Long Beach, an instrument of more than 2,600 pipes with four keyboards and a rank of percussion. They cut the house to 188 seats and reopened in 1968 showing silent films with the organ played live. Field kept it going until his death in 2020.
