The Church of England put up this plain meetinghouse in 1735 and 1736 for the farming village of Newtown, one of the first towns in Queens County. It survived the British occupation of Long Island and is the second oldest religious building still standing anywhere in the five boroughs. The city landmarked it in 2017.
