Nos Quedamos rewrites the Melrose Commons plan

The city's 1992 urban renewal plan for Melrose Commons would have cleared thirty blocks and displaced most of the people still living on them after two decades of arson and abandonment. Residents organised as Nos Quedamos, Spanish for we are staying, and produced their own plan instead. The city adopted the community version in 1994, and the rebuilt neighbourhood kept the households it was drawn to remove.
