Newark Riverfront Park gives the city its river back

Industry took the banks of the Passaic and then left them, and for more than a century the largest city in New Jersey had no public access to its own river. The first twelve acres opened along Raymond Boulevard in 2012, an orange boardwalk followed in 2013, and a third phase opened in December 2017. Finished, it is planned to run three miles between the Ironbound and downtown.
