Mount Hope, the plantation house Cheverly was platted around
1834
Cheverly, Maryland
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Fielder Magruder Jr built the west section of this frame house around 1834, taking in an overseer's cabin from about 1782, and added on to the east after the Civil War. Robert Marshall bought the Magruder land in 1918 to lay out Cheverly, restored the house, called it Crestlawn and lived in it until 1929. The building is on the town seal.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
